A Soul is the term mortals use to describe themselves.
Souls are finite, conscious beings whose existence is permanently bound to a single god.
No soul exists independently.
There is no mortal existence outside of divine influence.
Whether knowingly or unknowingly, willingly or unwillingly, every soul serves the god to which it is bound.
Every soul inherits aspects of its god through Divine Bonds.
The essence of a soul is slowly drawn upon to sustain its god through Service.

Sleep and the Moons
The presiding moon-god influences which souls or types of souls are awake and active. When inactive, they are asleep in the ordinary sense, not transported into another plane. The precise waking patterns and lunar effects remain to be developed in Calendar.
Vessels and Rebirth
Gravediggers bury vessels awaiting another life, returning them to the realm from which they passed so that they may be reborn. The precise relationship between vessel, soul, memory, and subsequent life remains to be developed.
Under some lunar conditions, some souls become conscious enough to answer the Gravediggers. The subjects and mechanism of these exchanges are not yet defined. Ordinary sleep should not be treated as death.
The Wonderer remains the established exception: intentionally forged by Mother, with no past life.
